Miroslav Vitous with Double Bass, 2003



Miroslav Vitous (b. 1947) studied classical music in his native Prague before moving to America to study at Berklee. He worked with a variety of leaders, including Art Farmer and Miles Davis, before joining Weather Report as a founding bassist. Miroslav has contributed to over 100 recording including Chick Corea's "Now He Sings, Now He Sobs" and Wayne Shorter's "Supernova." He will be performing solo double-bass and celebrating the release of "Universal Syncopations" (ECM Records), his new recording featuring Jan Garbarek, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin and Jack DeJohnette.
