Please join us at Slought Foundation on Friday, April 15, 2005 from 8:00-10:00pm for a live concert by Bauhaus Quartet with Kevin Norton (percussion/leader), Dave Ballou (trumpet), Tony Malaby (tenor saxophone), and John Lindberg (bass).


Kevin Norton is a percussionist/ composer who has performed and/or recorded with Anthony Braxton, Milt Hinton, Fred Frith, Phillip Johnston's Big Trouble, 77 Hz, Kitty Brazelton's Dadadah, Marie McAuliffe, Erik Friedlander, the Klezmatics, Ankle to Nose, Slam Stewart, Kapelye, Andy Statman, George Cartwight, Steve Elson, Fred Ho, David Krakauer, the Sirius String Quartet, the Soldier String Quartet, James Emery, Scott Miller, Mark Dresser Quartet, Framework (Kevin Norton, Erik Friedlander, Laura Seaton), Edward Ratliff's Rhapsodalia, Jason Hwang, and many other New York-area musicians. Kevin has performed frequently at jazz and new music festivals internationally, and has received numerous scholarships and awards including Meet the Composer and National Endowment for the Arts. His current compositions include works for his quintet (drums and vibes, cello, two woodwinds and bass), various duo pieces (for guitar and marimba, piano and percussion, sax and vibes, cello and percussion) and trio pieces for unspecified instrumentation. His pieces may be totally notated, through composed, or use-directed improvisation with written material as a focal point. Recent recordings include "Knots" (Music & Arts) with the Kevin Norton Ensemble (including "Three Movements for Solo Clarinet and Ensemble," a clarinet concerto written for David Krakauer) and most recently CDs on his own Barking Hoop label featuring Haewon Min, Anthony Braxton and his own ensembles.
