Rayna Kalas received her doctorate from the Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Renaissance English Literature. Her research focused on late sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century theories of "poesy." Her dissertation was titled "Frames, Glass, and the Technology of Poetic Invention." Her article, "The Language of Framing," appeared in the Fall 2000 issue of Shakespeare Studies.
