Please join us on Saturday, July 10, 2004 from 8-10pm at Slought Foundation for a live concert by Ravish Momin's Trio Tarana with Jason Kao Hwang and Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz. Trio Tarana includes interpretations of the music of Japanese Taiko Drum Ensembles, Afghani folk songs, Hindu chant and North Indian 11-beat rhythm cycles.

Jason Hwang (violin, electronics) is a member of The Far East Side Band, Reggie Workman Ensemble, Anthony Braxton sextet, and Dominic Duval's String Quartet. He appears on Henry Threadgill's "Too Much Sugar for a Dime" and "Carry the Day" and Butch Morris's "Testament."

Ravish Momin (drums, percussion, tabla) studied with Andrew Cyrille, Bob Moses and Zakir Hussain disciple Jim DiSpirito. He has performed and/or recorded with Kalaparush Maurice McIntyre and the Light, Ursel Schlicht's Ex Tempore, Susie Ibarra and experimental hip-hop group Dälek.

Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz (bass, oud) is a founding member of avant-klezmer group SATLAH. He has performed and/or recorded with Jon Madof's Rashanim, the Jazz Mandolin Project, Anthony Coleman and Mr. Bungle's Trevor Dunn. In 2003, Blumenkranz was included on John Zorn's "Voices in the Wilderness" and "Unknown Masada."

This program is made possible in part through the generous sponsorship or support of ars nova workshop
