Shela Sheikh

Sheikh received her PhD in History from Goldsmiths, University of London. Since 2014, she has convened the MA Postcolonial Culture and Global Policy in the Centre for Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London.

She is currently working on projects that are significant for the fields of post- and decolonial studies and indigenous activism, in their foregrounding of the entanglement of historical and ongoing colonialism with environmentalism, botanical classification, extractive capitalism, law and spatial politics. These include the co-organization of a conference exploring the cultural politics of botany and planting from a philosophical, legal, post- and decolonial perspective; and a special issue of Third Text entitled "Botanical Conflicts: Contemporary Art, Visual Cultures and the Politics of Soil and Planting."
