Palmesino is an architect, urbanist, and, together with Ann-Sofi Rönnskog, founder of Territorial Agency, a studio devoted to projects involving sustainable processes of transformation in urbanized landscapes. He is responsible for the Master course at the Research Architecture Centre at Goldsmiths, University of London, and also directs the Unit/Program in Histories & Critical Thinking at the Architectural Association.
He has lead research at the ETH Studio Basel/Contemporary City Institute (2003-2007) and was a co-founder of multiplicity, an international research network involved in contemporary urbanism, representation of inhabited landscape transformation, visual arts and culture. Recent projects include Neutrality, a multidisciplinary investigation into the territorial implications of UN policies and self-organisation processes of transformation as a modalities of control and governance of space; and Anthropocene Observatory, which explores how the planet Earth is becoming an object of planning in the 21st century. His work has been exhibited at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, documenta11, the Venice Biennale, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Milano Triennale, and Slought, among others.
