Millar is currently a BA candidate in Russian Studies at Bryn Mawr College. She has also studied Russian language and culture at Kazan Federal University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Her most recent research focuses on the "Soviet Thaw" and how that period affected Soviet artists and youth as well as women's rights in modern Kazakhstan.

During the academic year she works with the William Way Center as a development intern, assisting in managing donor accounts and grant proposals. In the past, she has also worked with PACT for Animals in the same capacity and as an assistant Russian teacher. As an intern at Slought, Millar engages current projects and public programs, including a two-year cultural exchange with the former Eastern Bloc funded by Trust for Mutual Understanding.
